Raising conscious children is one of life’s divine challenges. This has been true for every successive generation, but it seems that now it is as hard as any time in history. We have recently added a new column to the monthly KRI Newsletter, “Raising Children with Values and Virtues” that addresses this important topic. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out on the KRI website.
“Raising Children with Values and Virtues” are a series of ten articles written by Saraswati Kaur and Jugat Guru Singh Khalsa, Principals at Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar, India. Having lived their whole lives in the Sikh Dharma community, Jugat Guru Singh and the staff at Miri Piri Academy bring an intimate knowledge of the teachings of Yogi Bhajan around raising conscious children. The essence of these teachings are ten important points:
Don’t miss the June newsletter with a great article on number three – “Challenge Them.” Yogi Bhajan once said when he was addressing the young adults at Winter Solstice –
“When you are challenged it shows your strength and grit. It is the fastest way to grow and be courageous. Nobody has become leader without a challenge, it goes with the territory. And no carbon has become diamond without the pressure of crystallization of time and space. … These are the laws that shall never change.” Yogi Bhajan, December 29, 1987
The article really gives some great ideas on easing our children out of their comfort-zone in safe and constructive ways. Check it out!
