Sat Nam and Greetings from New Mexico!

11/11/11 is here! As we go into the Aquarian Age, I have been reflecting on my many blessings. I have a wonderful family and I am so grateful to Yogi Bhajan for these amazing teachings. I’m grateful that I am alive and well and able to be here now. Join us, in person or on the internet for this special day of uplifting experience and celebration.

I am also very thankful to the hard working staff at KRI. We have a wonderful group of Yogis that work here and consciously live Yogi Bhajan’s teachings. Have you met our small but highly effective staff?  You can meet them here.

I am also very grateful for our KRI Board of Directors. It is a fine group of volunteers that love the teachings of Yogi Bhajan and spend their time and money so that our staff and mission are supported in the work.  You can meet them here

Check out the video of the month as well. I demonstrate the Kriya “Attitude of Gratitude” that is written up in the very popular KRI publication, “Success and the Spirit.”

This Winter Solstice we will debut two new books. “Rebirthing” is the Lecture and Kriya manual by Yogi Bhajan. These lectures and kriyas are very powerful! This book represents a very significant part of the Legacy of Yogi Bhajan’s teachings that will be studied, used and experienced for generations.

We will also have Shakti Parwha Kaur and Guruka Singh’s book “Heroes, Saints and Yogis.” This inspiring collection of stories and personal experiences reveal Sikh Dharma as a very practical and down to earth spiritual path that anyone can benefit from on their life’s journey. Both of these would make great presents for your Kundalini Yoga friends and family during this upcoming giving season. May we all give thanks for our many blessings.

Kind regards,

News from The Yogi Bhajan Library of Teachings

Yogi Bhajan Library of Teachings

Cold weather is descending on us quickly and everything is growing increasingly cozy! This coziness was increased by our recent celebrations of the birthday of Guru Ram Das Ji. Every year we gather in our community’s homes and chant to the Lord of Miracles and we break bread. It was a true miracle in itself!

November is the season of gratitude! Just last weekend, my husband and I were going through the list of everything we felt grateful for. Our list was long and lovely and this simple exercise put us both in spectacular moods. No matter what obstacles or challenges we face, remembering our blessings and miracles keeps things in perspective.

What are your grateful for this Winter season? What blessings and miracles are unfolding in your life?

One of the things I am most certainly grateful for is the legacy and life of Yogi Bhajan. Kundalini Yoga elevates me everyday, keeps my body limber, keeps my mind peaceful and my actions grateful. What’s not to be grateful for?

I am also incredibly grateful for the new video explaining what a digital asset management system is and why this will revolutionize the way we interface with Yogi Bhajan’s legacy of teachings. If you haven’t seen this video yet, I highly recommend you visit this link below:

We Are KRI

Sat Nam,

What a beautiful month is November 2011. We enter the Aquarian Age on November 11th at 11:30am Los Angeles time. Soon after, we focus on gratitude here in the United States as we participate in our Thanksgiving Holiday and celebrate the harvest. What is Gratitude? What is this change that we are facing as we move from the Piscean Age into the Aquarian Age? How can We Are KRI serve all in this transition? These are some of the questions that I have been reflecting on as we approach November 11th. I would like to share some quotes that I found from Yogi Bhajan that magnify my deep gratitude to our Teacher for this lifetime in service to humanity.

He gave us this prayer for the Aquarian Age on April 2, 1997:

In the Aquarian Age you don’t pray, you ask God to pray for you. Tell God,

‘Lord, pray for me that I should be as Infinite as You are.
Make me as bright, bountiful, beautiful as You, oh Lord.
Give me the power of love to serve.
Let me know to serve myself.
Let my touch heal.
Let my sight create miracles.
Where I exist and pass, let there be nothing but the enlightened dance of Your Grace.’

And Yogi Bhajan spoke to us as Teachers and Trainers in the Aquarian Age when he addressed us at the IKYTA Teacher’s Conference on June 15, 1996:

“A Teacher is the same way. He takes a student and makes him his tomorrow. There is no other relationship. A teacher-student relationship is a teacher's tomorrow. A student is not to remain a student all his life. The relationship is of fulfillment and gratitude. A teacher makes a teacher. A teacher doesn't make a student.“

As we move into the Aquarian Age, all is known to all and as Kundalini Yoga Teachers and Trainers it is a time to serve from the depth of our soul, and so serve all.

He goes on to say, “This is the principle difference between the Age of Pisces and the Age of Aquarius. Aquarius quenches the thirst of everyone, while Pisces is symbolized by two fish biting at the tail of each other. Get out of the water, pick up your pot and quench the thirst of everyone. Come here as students. Leave your egos outside of the door, hang with it your flirting mind and your theory of gain and loss. Come to me with your heart and your head at the palm of your hand. You shall learn so fast that you can’t believe it. God wants you to be Teachers. He knows the Age of Aquarius is here.”

As we serve the Aquarian Age with gratitude to our Teacher for these teachings and a way of life in which we have the blessing to prosper and to elevate everyone we meet toward their own abundance and prosperity of spirit. Let us understand what gratitude really is. Yogi Bhajan defined it for us on June 27, 1984:

“Appreciation is an art and a lifestyle; a source of happiness and fulfillment. It’s called gratitude, an attitude of gratitude. A person who develops an attitude of gratitude is absolutely divine. You don’t have to sweat. If you have achieved the attitude of gratitude, everything in the world will come to you. If you make it a point to have an attitude of gratitude, it could be the greatest achievement in your life.  Gratefulness will make you great. It takes away any discrepancy, any negativity, any bother.”

Our KRI Teacher Training Programs are prospering and growing with more than 125 Level One Programs offered so far this year and more than 80 Level Two Courses offered around the globe. Our Aquarian Trainer Academy is also growing – this year the Trainer in Training Program at the Immersion had Academy members from South Africa, China, Canada, Mexico, Germany and the US.

Blessings to you as we move into the Aquarian Age – the Age of We not I.

Blessings,

Message From the Creative Director Message

Greetings and Sat Nam,

I write to you after spending a month in San Francisco where I was taking the Conscious Communication Course with 11 other teachers. Some who had been on this path a while and others who had just finished their Level One Teacher Training. What a great experience to explore the path of being a human being and an Aquarian Teacher with others, together.

Throughout my stay, I was reminded how grateful I am to be where I am in my life. I’m grateful to know who I am and to have a purpose for waking up each day. I’m grateful to have work that is meaningful to me (and to others). I’m grateful to have a supportive group of friends and peers both at work and in my life who challenge and uplift me each and every day. I’m grateful for the community of practitioners, those who’ve been here for 40 years and more and those who come to their first class and smile (or cry). I’m grateful to be a part of a practice that changes people’s lives. I’m grateful I still have the willingness and the capacity to change!

As I return home and the fall colors are finishing and Northern New Mexico begins to retreat into its winter months, I find myself really grateful for my life and for the life of Yogi Bhajan. For it is the life he led and the legacy he left behind which has so transformed my own; and given me the chance to help others change. I leave behind, in San Francisco, a dear friend. We have both changed in ways that make us unrecognizable to the other. I am sober and happy and light; she is trapped in an abusive relationship that has left her drained, depleted and terribly unhappy. And she is seemingly unable or unwilling to leave. She needs a chance to be reborn. And I remember the Rebirthing teachings that I’ve been working on for more than a year now. I pray she can give herself another chance to be happy, for that is what Kundalini Yoga has given me. A chance to be happy. A chance to heal. A chance to be real.

I am so very grateful.

Eggplant Pakoras

Eggplant Pakoras

From: I Am a Woman
Creative, Sacred, & Invincible
Selected Lectures From the

Women's Teachings
Yogi Bhajan, PhD, Master of Kundalini Yoga

Yogi Bhajan often described eggplant as the perfect food for women. Eggplant nourishes the reproductive system and balances the hormones; it's the 'sexiest' dish for women. Many women have found that by eating this dish, one meal a day for one week before their menstrual cycle begins, it has noticeably improved their health and the regularity of their cycle.

(Note: It also has beneficial effects on the male reproductive system.)

1 Eggplant
2 cups Garbanzo Flour (besan)
1 Tbsp. Caraway Seeds
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
2 tsp. Turmeric
2 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Black Pepper
1/2 tsp. Ground Cloves
1/2 Cup Milk
3/4 Cup Onion Juice or Puree
1/3 Cup Water
1/4 Cup Honey

Slice eggplant about 3/8 of an inch thick and set aside. Mix seeds and spices with the garbanzo flour. Add onion juice and milk and stir into a smooth paste. Mix with fork until there are no lumps. Dip the eggplant slices in the batter and fry in vegetable oil or ghee until they are golden brown. Set on a paper towel to drain. Serve with chutney or other condiments. Serves 4-6.
