Sat Nam. Greetings and Happy New Year from New Mexico!

February is the second month of this New Year in the Aquarian Age. This month is associated with love in the West because of its association with Valentine’s Day. It is a good time to think about relationships and love in life. Yogi Bhajan had some wonderful perspectives on the topic. Yogi Bhajan said, “I still remember that we as human creatures are nothing but a shadow of love. The only transformation, which we have to have, is from shadow of love to become the light of love. If you think life has any other purpose than that, you are very badly mistaken. All education, all possessions, all money, all muscles, all tricks, all trades, all lying, all cheating, all deceiving, all truthfulness, boasting, big things, call it anything, it doesn’t matter, has only one purpose, that somehow you can slide down from the shadow to the light of love. I am asking you whether you know what love is or not? Love is a selflessness within yourself. The love you know, it won’t work.” © The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan, December 11, 1983

You can learn more about Yogi Bhajan’s teachings about love and relationship with us this summer. Registration for our Level Two course, “Authentic Relationships,” along with our Level One Immersion Course, and our new course, “The 21 Stages of Meditation” is open now.

News from The Yogi Bhajan Library of Teachings

Yogi Bhajan Library of Teachings

“Love is a creative energy, an experience of one’s Self within oneself. Love knows no pain—no sacrifice is too much for it. Love is an absolute one-pointed state of mind, focused on the well-being of the other person, who is called lover or beloved.” -Yogi Bhajan

February has dawned and the season of love is here. The topic of love brings up many questions for me. How do different cultures understand the various types of love? How does love impact the planet’s consciousness? How do Yogi Bhajan’s words above apply in these times?

According to the Greek language, there are various types of love. There is Eros; romantic love, Philla; friendship love, Storge; the love and affection for children and Agape, universal love. There term Agape is applied to a grander form of love—either with all of mankind & creation or the precise love to God or Spirit.

Universal love is sometimes seen as a synonym with Charity,a loving kindness to all of mankind. While a limited view of Charity can be viewed as benevolent giving, a larger perspective includes unlimited loving kindness towards all others. This type of love is the ideal and often includes some form of self-sacrifice.

What I conclude from these various ideas is that universal love overcomes pain, is fearless in the face of self-sacrifice, focuses on the kindness given to others and is a goal we can all strive for.

One of the opportunities that arises this time of year is to rekindle and reinforce that which you love and to renew your commitments to nurture that which needs you. The world can seem riddled with problems at times, but each of us has infinite power to heal the wounds with our loving kindness.
Below is a link to a lovely kriya titled “How much you love”. This kriya is very heart opening and is great for your health and youth. This would be a very beautiful practice in this season of love.

Perhaps the highest expression of your loving kindness to all is by helping preserve the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. The process is ever unfolding and progressing beautifully toward an intelligent, online database of every lecture Yogi Bhajan ever gave. We need all donations, large and small, and donating has never been easier than with a monthly subscription. Please visit the link below to donate:

Simrat Kaur is a Kundalini Yoga Teacher and a Trainer in Training in the Aquarian Trainer Academy who has a passion to Reach Out with the teachings and spread Kundalini Yoga and now with her Ipad and ebooks she can travel much lighter. The second prize winner is Sat Inder Kaur of Kansas City who is a Lead Trainer who, with her husband Karta Purkh Singh, is taking The Aquarian Teacher Level One to cities in the Midwest – she won 22 ebooks. The third prize winner is Sat Bachan Kaur of Espanola who won a copy of the Rebirthing Book. Sat Bachan Kaur is a devoted sevadar of the Española Gurdwara who has coordinated our Ishnaan Seva for the past nine years. Congratulations to all of our winners.

In February, we turn our hearts and minds to reflect on the important relationships in our life and the most important relationship of all, the relationship to our own soul. One of the most powerful relationships is through our Group Sadhana. While in Chile at the Chilean Yoga Festival, meditating with over 200 devoted teachers and students, I experienced again a profound gratitude for our lifestyle and practice.

I want to share some words from the Aquarian Teacher on the power of Group Sadhana that Yogi Bhajan gave us for these times, he called it “All for One and One For All.”

“You body is the Temple of God, and your soul is the Divine Guru within. So you get up in the morning, meditate, chant the mantras, do the exercises, call all your spirit, regulate the breath, and you get together in group consciousness. If in this whole group, one person opens up to God just once, we will all be blessed in his openness. Group consciousness in the early morning is to help one another. If one has walked into sadhana with heart and soul in a prayerful mind, we will all benefit. That is the power of the group sadhana. All should participate.

If in morning sadhana one cannot curtail the barriers and get to Oneness, I don’t think there is any other time it can happen. All for one, and one for all. That is the principle. …The happiness of one person balances the sadness of another.”

Over and over again Yogi Bhajan told us of this time, the Aquarian Age, and he encouraged us to be in Sangat, not to isolate. The Aquarian Age is moving fast and now is the time to Reach Out to your students and all you meet to uplift them and bring them out of isolation. A wonderful opportunity to deeply meditate with others is at the new course this summer 21 Stages of Meditation – a profoundly deep course in meditation.

I look forward to a wonderful 2012 with all of you. I hope to see you at the Authentic Relationships Level Two in Española after Summer Solstice or at the Immersion in August. If you are a member of the Aquarian Trainer Academy and would like to participate in this year’s Trainer in Training program, please contact me at hck@kriteachings.org . This year we will have the opportunity for 20 members of the academy to participate in this five week life changing experience.

Blessings,
