Saibhung – the quality of self existence. The quality of oneness being the quality of itself.
This month we celebrate the pride of Saibhung. In reflection of Saibhung and diversity, we remember that even in diversity we are one, we are self-existent, that there is no other than us. So if one of us is threatened, we are all threatened. If one of us is free, we are all free.
The quality of being self-existent is that there is no other than God itself. Everything around us is God itself – every person, every being, every plant, every particle of life, the illusion of life itself is God itself. If we “other” anything in existence, it is not that we are in dissonance with the “other” but we are in dissonance with God manifest itself. When we develop stronger relationships to our own inner beingness and the existence of this unity that already is, we heal dissonance in all of its aspects.
Kundalini Yoga is a practice of liberation. We learn to free ourselves from the neurosis of the mind, anxiety, depression, fear, and the obstacles that bind us. Our liberation is not independent of each other. In the presence of Saibhung – if one of us is not free, none of us are free. We have the opportunity to practice our yoga beyond the physical asana, we take our practice of yoga into the unity of our consciousness. When we sit in this seat of awareness, we support each other in cleaning, clearing, and freeing ourselves.
Our practice requires acceptance and self compassion. Acceptance and self compassion for ourselves and for the beings around us. When we can live in this loving awareness, we can extend this love’s existence to everyone around us. “If we do not see God in all, we do not see God at all”. If we cannot love the God that is in all, are we even loving God at all?
We celebrate our PRIDE community this month, reflecting on their strength, their challenges, acceptance of identity, and courage. We honor the collective suffering the LGBTQI+ community suffers – in anti- LGBTQI teachings, homophobia, being “othered”, being disrespected, human rights being voted on, violence, and hatred that targets our LGBTQIA communities everywhere. In reflection of Saibhung, the challenges that our PRIDE community faces is everyone’s challenge. There is no other than ourselves- when one of us is suffering, all of us are suffering.
The invitation this month is to meditate on Saibhung and our personal relationship to the LGBTQIA+ community. What feelings, emotions, love, judgements, criticisms, and/or expectations arise? How does the quality of the meditative mind reflect your relationship to oneness? How can we use our meditation to empathize with our PRIDE community and embody the feeling of oneness even deeper? How have I changed in relation to the common struggles in diversity?
When we create space to understand each other’s experiences, our capacity to connect increases – our relationship to Saibhung deepens.
Please join us this month in honoring our beautiful PRIDE community.
