In the bustling days of the 1960s and 1970s, amidst the spiritual awakening that swept across the globe, the teachings of Kundalini Yoga found fertile ground, taking root in the hearts and minds of seekers far and wide. As its practice grew exponentially, a pressing need arose: to capture and preserve the wisdom of the teachings. That is how the seeds of The Yogi Bhajan Library of Teachings were sown. Siri Ved Singh and others began recording (first just the audio, and by the mid-80s on video as well) all of Yogi Bhajan’s public lectures and classes.

Fast forward to the dawn of the new millennium, and the landscape of technology underwent a profound shift. The vision of an internet-based searchable database, a digital repository housing the vast wealth of Kundalini Yoga and Yogi Bhajan’s teachings, became not just a dream, but a foreseeable reality. And so, with unwavering dedication and pioneering spirit, the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) embarked on a journey to bring this vision to fruition.

What is The Library of Teachings?

Starting Feb 1, 1997, under the dedicated leadership of Satsimran Kaur, a pivotal initiative took flight: the transcription of the recordings. This effort involved making copies of the audio tapes and shipping them to India. There was a whole team of people there who typed up the transcripts from all the lectures and classes. Then double and triple-checked them all to ensure accuracy and fidelity to the teachings. You can see an early photo in our timeline here!

In November 2012, with Nirvair Singh as CEO of KRI, developing a searchable database for the teachings began. Joti Software came on the scene to sculpt and refine the final project, and after several months of programming new features and streamlining the administrative capabilities of the website, the Beta Test of The Yogi Bhajan Library of Teachings was rolled out.

The website was officially debuted to the public in January 2014, and since then, the Library of Teachings has been a valued resource for Kundalini Yoga students and teachers from around the globe. This invaluable resource, born from the collective efforts of devoted souls, stands as a testament to the power of community.

Within its virtual halls, you can delve deep into a treasure trove of knowledge, comprising a vast repository of thousands of lectures, audio and video clips, Kundalini Yoga Kriyas, and Meditations.
