Kundalini Beyond Borders
Expanding the Reach of Kundalini Yoga

What is Kundalini Beyond Borders:

Kundalini Beyond Borders is an initiative by KRI & IKYTA to provide grants to KRI certified Kundalini Yoga Teachers who are bringing Kundalini Yoga to an underserved population.

The definition of an underserved population is very broad. It can include anyone who feels there is a barrier to either coming into a class or staying in a Kundalini Yoga class.  KRI  and IKYTA want every willing person to have the opportunity to access this technology.  Some examples of the barriers are: there are no classes at all where a person lives, classes or teacher training is not available in their language, when they came to class they did not feel welcome, they have a learning difference and cannot understand the information.

This program is to open doors that need to be opened. We are committed to ensuring that any person who wishes to experience Kundalini Yoga has access, feels welcome, and feels safe in the practice. This grant program is designed to support this commitment by providing grants to teachers supporting those populations with limited or no access.

The funds for this project were donated by students, teachers and trainers from all over the globe.  We want to continue to grow this initiative each year to expand the reach of Kundalini Yoga to all.  The fundraising is ongoing and there will be an annual grant giving process. Individuals and teams can apply more than once.

In this granting process we want the funds to have the greatest impact by reaching as many people as possible in the most meaningful ways.  You may want to initiate a new program or have an ongoing program that you want to expand.  You may be looking for seed money or you may want to find matching funds for the program you are proposing.  We are looking for the positive impact this will have on the community that you want to serve. Here are a few examples of possible programs:

  • A Program to bring Level One Teacher Training to West Africa – the grant will fund air travel, meals for participants, and materials.
  • A program to bring Kundalini Yoga to refugees in Poland
  • A program to teach a basic Kundalini Yoga program to pregnant teenagers
  • Money to translate an existing program from Portuguese to French to bring to French Africa
  • A program to teach Kundalini Yoga in the prisons in the inner city of Los Angeles
  • Where are you called to serve?

With all the changes of the Aquarian Age, we are continually inspired by global leaders that  reach out to build community relationships. The ripple effect of the work of many practitioners will hopefully lead to Kundalini Yoga and Meditation reaching every corner of the globe.  KRI and IKYTA are very excited for this Kundalini Beyond Borders program to contribute to that ripple effect.  Kundalini Beyond Borders funding decisions will be made based on:

  • the the number of people potentially impacted,
  • the depth of that impact (is it a 12-month teacher training program or a 90 minute breathing class?)
  • Risk – a subjective analysis by the review committee, informed by each application, to determine the potential chance that the program objectives may not be realized. Factors that would go into this analysis include:
    • Experience of the key team members
    • Thoughtfulness and level of detail provided in the project summary and budget, and
    • How innovative the project is (or conversely, building on an existing foundation)

If you have questions about whether or not your proposed program may qualify, or if you have any other questions at all about this program, please contact either Hari Charn Kaur at [email protected] or Simranjeet Singh at [email protected].  We are here to answer your questions and support you in any way that we can.

For the 2022 grant cycle, the activities must be able to be initiated by September 1st, 2022 and applications must be submitted by May 1st, 2022.
