Finding the Compass:
Live, embrace, and understand the ups and downs of life
Just as nature expresses itself through different seasons, life goes by in cycles and stages that help us grow. Although we often experience these cycles as crises, they are opportunities to reach our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual maturity.
Sometimes those crises can bring out the best of us or the version we dislike the most. But when we rely on practices and tools for self-awareness, a crisis can be experienced more kindly.
As a Kundalini yoga instructor, I have experienced firsthand the transformative power of this practice in the last ten years of my life. One journey within Kundalini yoga that has been particularly meaningful to me has been embarking on Level Two: Lifecycles and Lifestyles. Through these teachings, I have found my compass in life and the understanding of my lifecycles more deeply.
Level Two Lifecycles and Lifestyles helped me create an entire map of my life when I was in my early thirties, in the middle of a whirlwind of changes, emotions, griefs, and reconciliations. The teachings were like a precise GPS that helped me find the path back to myself and find new ways of accepting and understanding my vitality, intelligence, and self-awareness.
Since then, every time I recognize a new cycle is coming or when I feel a crisis is knocking on the door, I go to my Lifecycles and Lifestyles notes to check my map and find the location of every cycle from birth to the present time and on to the future. Kundalini technology gives me tools to look at my past but also to have a vision of my future to prepare for what’s next.
In Kundalini yoga, life is seen as a cycle of birth, growth, death, and rebirth. Each cycle brings its own challenges and opportunities, and it is up to us to navigate these cycles with grace and awareness. Level Two teachings provide tools and practices to help us do just that!
How to identify lifecycles and lifestyles?
One of the keys of this Level Two is the concept of lifecycles: Vitality (happens every 18 years), Intelligence (every 11 years), and Consciousness (every 7 years). The Cycle of Vitality reflects our health, the mental-physical-emotional energy to live, explore, learn, and discover who we are and what we are passionate about. The Cycle of Intelligence is about our intellectual knowledge and focus, and how we apply it. The Cycle of Consciousness is related to our self-concept, how we see ourselves, the awareness of ourselves and our surroundings.
In these cycles, there are peaks of change. Just as every season brings different energies and opportunities, those peaks bring challenges and blessings so we can learn to honor life and navigate every cycle with greater ease and wisdom.
Another essential aspect of Level Two is the concept of lifestyles. Each of us has a unique lifestyle or way of living shaped by our past experiences in childhood and teenage years, our current circumstances, and our aspirations for the future. By understanding our lifestyles we can gain insight into our behavior and subconscious patterns, and make conscious choices that align with our highest values and goals.
Through my practice and teaching, I have come to understand and appreciate the unique cycles and lifestyles that make up my journey. I have learned to honor each cycle for the gifts it brings and to use the tools and practices of Kundalini yoga to navigate these cycles with greater awareness and grace.
The Level Two Lifecycles and Lifestyles program gives a powerful framework for understanding the cycles and lifestyles of our lives. By embracing these teachings, we can find our compass and navigate the challenges and opportunities that come our way with greater wisdom. We can continuously spiral upwards, learning and growing, rather than just staying stuck going around and around in the same failing patterns and habitual ruts. If you are looking for a way to deepen your understanding of yourself, your life’s journey, and even the lifecycles and lifestyles of your beloved ones, I invite you to explore the transformative teachings of this Kundalini yoga Level Two.
